Start with the journeys and language
Describe the destination country, usual urban and intercity journeys, and the language needed for search and guidance. A translated home screen is not enough if the buyer cannot enter local addresses or interpret spoken directions. Include a few representative destinations in the demonstration request, such as the receiving dealership, a familiar customer address and a journey outside the main city.
Decide which functions are essential and which are optional. Basic route guidance, traffic information, online destination search and live charging information are different services with different dependencies. A map that draws the surrounding roads might not calculate a route or recognise the local address format. Ask for the actual task to be demonstrated rather than recording a photograph of a map as a complete pass.
Identify the installed navigation arrangement
Request the visible software and map information for the specific i60. Establish whether the demonstration uses the vehicle’s installed navigation, a connected phone or an additional device. A seller can switch between those arrangements during a video without making the change obvious. Ask them to show how the route was opened and where the destination was entered, while the vehicle is safely parked.
The software and regional-support review separates installed equipment from services that rely on an account or network. Use that distinction here: map coverage, permitted account access and language availability need their own answers. Do not assume an update will add an unsupported country. If future coverage is promised, request applicable documentation and keep it out of the confirmed specification until it exists.
Demonstrate the phone option independently
Use the buyer’s intended phone type and the proposed connection method. Confirm whether the arrangement is a supported built-in feature or uses an additional adapter. Check route display, guidance audio and a routine disconnect-and-reconnect cycle. A USB charging icon only proves that the phone is receiving power; Bluetooth audio alone does not establish navigation projection on the vehicle screen.
The i60 CarPlay and phone-connection guide sets out the evidence needed for those separate functions. Keep phone software, connection hardware and included accessories in the record. If a demonstration uses the seller’s phone, identify what still needs checking on the buyer’s device. Avoid turning one successful combination into a blanket statement that all phones and every software version will behave the same way.
Check an offline fallback before relying on it
For a chosen phone mapping service, use its documented download and offline-use options to prepare the required area in advance. Then check the relevant route without depending on mobile data, in a safe stationary demonstration. Record which tasks remain available and which stop working. Downloaded map imagery, offline route calculation and online search are not interchangeable capabilities.
Offline navigation does not establish that a charging station is working, accessible or compatible at the time of arrival. A saved location may help find it, but operating status and access still need confirmation. Combine journey planning with the charging compatibility review and a reasonable alternative stop. This is especially useful when the buyer will collect the vehicle and immediately drive through an unfamiliar area.
Keep changes and support within a defined scope
If the seller proposes changing software, adding hardware or installing a third-party application, ask for an itemised explanation before approval. Identify the provider, maintenance responsibilities and any stated limitations. Do not merge an unofficial modification into an ordinary feature description. A buyer should be able to distinguish what belongs to the vehicle’s supplied specification from what another party has added.
Account ownership is another separate issue. Where navigation or connected services need registration, use the account-transfer checklist to establish a legitimate receiving-user arrangement. Sharing the seller’s login is not a durable support plan. Ask how future updates, device changes or expired subscriptions will be handled; a demonstration today does not establish free access for the full period of ownership.
Write a result the customer can use
Summarise the working arrangement in plain language: which device or installed application provides the route, which country was checked, what language was shown and which functions need connectivity. Include the specific hardware supplied. Mark anything that could not be demonstrated. This is more useful to a customer than a broad promise that overseas navigation is available.
For a batch purchase, repeat the verification when the software version, installed equipment or accessory changes. An identical model badge does not establish an identical navigation setup. Include the agreed arrangement in the sourcing brief for new or used vehicles, and request a final check on the unit actually handed over. That keeps the accepted customer requirement connected to the delivered car.
