Establish the seller's status basis
Ask what demonstrator means for this vehicle and what records support the period and use. Keep production, registration and odometer separately visible. A dealer's broad label can cover different circumstances, so do not strengthen it into a verified history claim without evidence.
The vehicle status guide treats new and used sourcing routes independently. An unused description also needs its own support. It cannot be inferred solely from appearance, low mileage or the fact that the seller presents a recent model. Retain uncertain status before deciding which evidence and customer disclosure are required.
Review storage and use separately
The stock and delivery review addresses storage, charging and relevant checks. Apply it to the actual unused-stock proposal rather than treating time parked as proof of perfect condition. A demo car needs additional review of supported use and current findings.
Compare the installed equipment and supplied items on both offers. An attractive demonstrator may contain a feature the stock candidate lacks, but that difference needs original specification and operation evidence. Do not borrow the demo's reference photographs or equipment list for every available car from the same source.
Assess battery and whole-vehicle findings
Obtain suitable evidence for the identified battery and other systems, with scope and limitations recorded. The battery assessment guide explains why charge level or a range display does not settle health. A demo history does not establish a diagnosis, and unused status cannot replace appropriate delivery checks.
Record wear, disclosed repairs and missing accessories separately from the status label. Ask a responsible provider for any required remedy and completion evidence. A lower amount should not be used to bypass a mandatory condition requirement or promote a promised task to completed preparation.
Compare the accepted retail proposition
Align preparation and transfer scope through the quote comparison guide. Keep the buyer's permitted status and history explicit. Some customers may accept a supported demonstrator; others require another description irrespective of options. Record any revised requirement rather than assuming interest in a discount authorises the change.
The fleet-history decision addresses another distinct prior-use route. Demo and fleet descriptions should not be merged merely to simplify stock presentation. Avoid universal resale or warranty assurances. Any support promise needs its actual responsible provider and scope rather than being inferred from the car's sales label.
A premium demo beside a simpler stock candidate
Suppose the demo offers a desired seat function while the unused-stock proposal is simpler. Confirm status on both, then demonstrate the useful option and assess condition. The extra feature can be relevant without making the history irrelevant. A buyer requiring unused status should not be silently moved to the demo because its photographs look better.
If both routes are acceptable, compare the finished amounts and disclosed differences. Retain the supported status and acceptance reason with the selected candidate. A substitute needs its own file; the first demonstration cannot establish its use, battery evidence or supplied equipment. The dealer should be able to explain exactly which proposition was purchased.
Choose the next action
| Finding or requirement | Purchase response |
|---|---|
| Status relies on a short label | Request the relevant production, registration and use basis before assigning a stronger condition description. |
| Demo equipment creates the attraction | Verify the useful option and its operating condition independently of the prior-use decision. |
| Customer requires unused stock | Retain that requirement unless an explicit supported alternative is accepted. |
Evidence to keep with the decision
- Preserve the supported period and basis of demonstrator use, with production, registration and current reading recorded separately rather than strengthening a seller's short status label into an established unused or private-use history without evidence.
- Keep the unused-stock candidate's own status and storage record, identifying the relevant provider and delivery checks; low mileage or recent model wording should not excuse that proposal from an appropriate review of the actual supplied vehicle.
- Connect battery and whole-vehicle observations to each car, noting assessment limits and any disclosed work so the demonstrator's attractive presentation or the alternative's unused claim cannot answer every technical and condition question automatically.
- List useful equipment and supplied items independently on both offers, demonstrating the functions that matter and avoiding a shared stock description based on the higher-trim demonstrator's photographs or an unrelated manufacturer reference presentation.
- Align the completed preparation, currency and transfer stage, keeping the customer's permitted status explicit; interest in a lower amount should not be taken as silent acceptance of a history route the original brief excluded.
- Retain the accepted retail description and supporting records through handover, revisiting the status and condition file for any substitute; cleaning or cosmetic preparation cannot transform the documented prior use or establish another candidate's history.
Questions buyers ask
Can low mileage establish an unused car?
No. Relevant status and use evidence need separate review.
Is a demonstrator automatically better value?
No. Compare history, condition, useful equipment and complete scope on identified candidates.
